Cherwell
Industry: IT Service Management and Help Desk Software
Detail List of Accomplishments:
- Created agile environment with fast feedback loop to reduce bugs from 500 per quarter release to less than 50
- Improved time to market for value from once per year to once per month
- Added beta program for faster feedback for features
- Created enterprise backlog to use metrics to set priority of initiative work
- Added Product Owners to ensure each initiative had a backlog that was consumed by the development teams
- Created monthly demonstrations to all of the company, but a focus on value functionality
- This was readily consumed by the sales teams
Kaiser Permanente
Industry: Health Insurance, Hospitals and Medical Providers
Detail List of Accomplishments:
- Make enrollments easier for smaller businesses
- Oversaw team to simplify the user interface that reduced the time to upload or update enrollments
- Removed the need to have small businesses pay to have a Kaiser employee be involved in their enrollment process
- Automated reporting of status as open enrollment times came to an end
- Created a feedback loop that removed hand review of various milestones companies to reach.
- Created alerts of missing requirements for enrollments
- Updating and installing new electronic records in their medical facilities
- This involved installing on local servers a cloud based system
- It also involved end user training
The Village for Families and Children
Industry: Community Mental Health Services
Detail List of Accomplishments:
- Installed new electronic medical record system
- Implemented a new electronic document storage system
- Allowed scanned documents to be tied to the new medical record system to electronically store all paperwork
- Saved over $500,000.00 in storage costs in the first year
- Create and implement an automated insurance eligibility system to check for coverage the morning of all scheduled services
- Improved customer satisfaction and reduced no show appointments since families can be contacted early in the day to resolve the problems
- Updated technology infrastructure, including VOIP phones
- Trained all staff on HIPAA regulations
Optum
Industry: Health Insurance and Claims Processing Intermediary
Detail List of Accomplishments:
- 5010 conversion
- Project Managed the internal code base to meet the new 5010 HIPPA standards for all data types that Optum utilized
- Created a way to do mass imports and exports of eligibility with highlights on failed eligibility
- New feature to be sold to large companies that allowed big batch submissions of eligibility requests
- This then looked at the previous day saved file and highlighted any new or changed eligibility status
- Brought in over 5 million in the first six months of new sales
- Created a way for basic information to be sent thru the eligibility system to use all ways of finding if a person has insurance or not
- Created and project managed a sellable ability to automatically search using the various payer allowed fields from a single batch of submitted information
- A company would send a full batch file with payer identifications and then we would parse the data and send along the various fields to find eligibility.
- It was discovered that we could find about 20% of clients that were deemed not eligible because of human entry errors
- This allowed Optum to retain three large payers as a primary contract, amounting to around 6 million in revenue per year
- Also brought in new products, like bill collectors, who found value in having insurance pay claims instead of patients directly
Agilent Technologies
Industry: Medical Device Manufacturing and Reagent Based Testing
Detail List of Accomplishments:
- Project manage a full system change to ensure ordering to manufacturing occurs with less interruptions
- The new system removed most handwritten processes to remove any human error and complexity.
- Since this was a global exporting company, the new system allowed required export and import fields to be completed at the time of order creation , reducing holding delays
- As new orders came in they were prirotized based on weighted shortest job first (with human interaction to make sure it was logical) so that there was shorter hold times and reduced shipping costs since each country had requirement that changed the manufacturing needs
- Create an agile development workspace to allow value to flow and adapt to international orders
- Created eight agile teams in the software divisions to improve value flow and reduce dependencies and blockers
Behavioral Health Network
Industry: Community Mental Health Services
Detail List of Accomplishments:
- Install electronic medical record and billing system
- This was cutting edge at the time it was installed
- Cut paperwork and administrative costs by 15% in the first year
- Create automated eligibility check and authorization request system
- Update the operational systems of staff to reduce waste and improve efficiency and care
- Reviewed all operations to find waste and removed it in most spots.
- This included unnecessary paperwork, programs that were not funded properly and needed to be updated and staff that needed training to have their skills updated
